This was my first major contribution to Fallout 76.

For this update, I worked on developing many fixes, the new mutation, Reflective Skin, and introducing a new encounter group for Daily Ops, Aliens.

I also worked alongside artists to bring new rewards for Daily Ops for players to collect!

The Reflective Skin mutation tests the player’s trigger discipline and target prioritization. If a player was to attack an enemy in a reflective state, it returns a set percentage of damage done to the monster back to the player.

Working alongside our Sound Designer and UI team, we wanted to make sure to communicate to the player that damage was being returned to them.

I have also brought a new encounter group to the Daily Ops gamemode, where players fight a variety of Aliens. Explosive Drones, Ranged and Melee enemies, and then a menacing Boss that will move around and deal a large amount of damage if allowed.

Finally, this also allowed me to provide players new unique rewards for the Daily Ops gamemode. This allowed me to grant them new weapon cosmetics, a backpack cosmetic, and a new Power Armor that has the aesthetics of an Armored Alien!

Post-mortem - Mutation Invasion

First AAA Project that I have been part of. Quite a contrasting experience from indie, but overall it felt very satisfying seeing it into fruition.

There were some rewards that unfortunately had to get axed due to timing/budget concerns, but it was a learning experience, and now have a more general idea of how the pipeline works.

It felt really nice seeing my name on the game’s credits 🙂
