After finishing Darkovia with a challenging fight, we began working on our new saga: Sandsea.

I began to develop the first dungeon experience on the saga.

They venture into the Aquifer, where the water is tainted. Snakes, Scarabs, and slimes reside in the caves. Players can brute-force their way through, or they can do plat-forming challenges to breeze through the dungeon.

Riding Floating Boxes!

There are options for players who may not be the best at jumping, such as a buildable bridge that allows them to cross (at the expense of losing 20 seconds), paths that lead to a horde of monsters, and such. 

Building Bridges!

Players who mastered the jump mechanics of the game are rewarded by saving significant time in collecting the required keys.

Once players find all the keys, they can face the dungeon’s final boss, which is the source of Bastion’s water problem.

Post-mortem - The Aquifer

This project allowed me to get more familiar with some more tools that I haven’t used yet.

It can be pretty addicting to stare at water :O

Some players found that jumping may be too tricky, so it was nice to provide alternative options to those players.
