This time, I took in the role of a project lead to develop a multiplayer boss experience. It was intimidating at first, as my first experience in a leadership position was not the best one. Fortunately, this was an eye-opening experience as I communicated all of my ideas to the programmers & artists to make sure players would obtain a pleasant and consistent experience.

In this project, I have developed two maps, a Lobby area where players can gather party members and the boss arena, where up to 5 players can fight against Wolfwing, a mix of a Werewolf and Vampire.

I added a death penalty system that punishes players the more times they die on the encounter. Shadow versions of Vampires & Werewolves appear, and players must defeat them in the death zone to return to the battlefield.

Defeat the shadows to retun to battle!

The Blood-lusted form makes the map shift tone. The monster is more robust, faster. Its attacks have a bigger radius and will cast map-wide one-hit KO spells occasionally.

Be quick, or succumb in battle!

To counter said map-wide one-hit KOs, players must rush to the altars that provide a brief moment of invincibility.

Invincible!

Post-mortem - WolfWing Challenge Fight

It was my first time in a leadership position in quite some time.

This experience taught me that I could rely on my fellow developers in a more professional setting.

With the proper documentation at hand, it was easy to track designated tasks and their progress.

Now that I had a pleasant experience in a leadership position, I will be opting for more ambitious ideas, if possible.
